Why use Lyprinex
The manufacturer of the Lyprinol® contained in Life Plus’ LyprinexTM
uses a patented extraction process to stabilize the oil derived from the

General Fatty
Acid Overview
Fatty Acids, and particularly Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFAs), are
nutritional substances that have two or more double bonds whose locations are
of great interest. Counting from the "ends", and using the Greek letter Omega
or w (designating "last" or "end"), Omega 3's have one of their double bonds
on the third carbon from the end; Omega 6's, on the sixth carbon from the end.
In the twenty or "Eicosa" carbon fatty acids, materials with four (tetra)
double bonds are of interest.
The body can utilize one of these Eicosatetraenoic Acids (ETAs), Arachidonic Acid (very specifically, an Omega
6), in numerous metabolic pathways, which can include the formation of end
products associated with joint function and gastrointestinal effects. Specific
location of the double bonds, then, appears critical.
Omega 3's & Omega 6's
Western diets provide more Omega 6's relative to Omega 3's. Vegetable oils are
richer in Omega 6's; fish oils, richer in Omega 3's. Individuals concerned
with fatty acid composition are looking for diets rich in Omega 3's. Dietary
supplementation can provide such materials in concentrated form, allowing more
freedom in food choice.
In animal studies, it was shown that the unique lipids
in LYPRINEX were substantially more potent than those in other oils such as
Evening Primrose Oil, Flax Oil, Salmon and other Fish Oils, and more potent
than other extracts. The concentrated lipid fraction from the Green Lipped
Mussel in LYPRINEX has an amazing 10-to-1 ratio of Omega 3's to Omega 6's.
This unique group of PUFA's are stabilized with the antioxidant Vitamin E, and

Normal Healthy
Joint Function
Based on available and ongoing research, LYPRINEX may play an important role
in, among other things, helping to maintain normal joint function. Healthy
joint function is dependent upon the action of pathways that deal with
internal "cascades" or enzyme-facilitated conversions of Polyunsaturated Fatty
Acids, most especially the Omega 6 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid, Arachidonic
Acid. These cascades can have a direct bearing on normal healthy joint
function.
Lox & Cox-2
These pathways are named after the enzymes controlling them. Specific pathways
that can affect joint function are the LOX (lipoxygenase) and COX-2 (cyclo-oxygenase)
pathways. These pathways play key roles in supporting normal joint function.
Years Of Scientific
Research
The Green Lipped Mussel has been a traditional food of the native tribal Maori
people in coastal New Zealand. It has been an excellent source of protein,
vitamins and minerals, part of their overall diet in maintaining normal health
and well-being. As the habits of the Maoris were exposed to "western"
observers, interest developed in Maori health and in this mussel in
particular. In the years of investigation, dating from the 1970's and 1980's,
attempts have been made to both commercialize the whole marine shellfish, as
